Edge of Obedience

Clint stood on the edge with a wobble and sway,
With a what-if, what-when, and a maybe-today.
A whisper said, “Go,” soft and steady and slow,
But the what-ifs grew loud, shouting, “No, no, no!”

He tiptoed from chances, backing away from the call,
Choosing safe little steps, he didn’t step much at all.
Each moment of “later” kept piling up high,
Until doors softly closed with a quiet goodbye.

“Oh, was it my failing? My lack? My misstep?”
He pondered the chances he’d never quite kept.
But truth tapped his shoulder—so gentle, so clear:
“It wasn’t your failure… it was only your fear.

“For God doesn’t give you a heart full of fright.
It’s power and love and a mind clear and bright.
So step when God calls you. Don’t shrink. Don’t delay,
For fear steals the path when you don’t choose his way.”
